Dear readers,
Wow, hard to believe we are already three weeks into the semester. I know everyone says that college flies by, but that reality becomes all the more true when you are in the process of writing the final chapter.
At the rate we are going, it’ll only feel like tomorrow that I’m making an Instagram collage of my college memories set to Green Day’s Good Riddance. When you begin college, graduation seems so far away, and yet these last three years have sort of felt like one of those days where you get lost in a video game and then suddenly panic at 11 pm when you realize you just wasted an entire day.
Existential crises about the cruel ruthlessness of time’s relentless temporal progression aside, we at The Comenian are so excited for this semester and we are already receiving record recruitment numbers. In the words of Professor Harris, when I took over the paper, we were a small outfit always in the search of new members. To now see this same organization selling out seats like a Taylor Swift concert (yes, I went there) brings immense joy to my jaded heart.
I am so excited to see all that our new members do; (more importantly) I can’t wait for you, the readers, to see all that we do this year! I think we have an amazing year ahead of us both in and out of The Comenian, and I’m excited to see where the wind takes us!
Before I sign off: if you’re interested in joining The Comenian please join us at our meetings, which take place every Wednesday at 5 p.m. in Zinzendorf Hall, room 100. We also have secondary meetings on Thursdays at the same time and place for people who can’t come on Wednesdays. If you cannot make it to meetings, that is fine as well! We fully allow asynchronous participation, so don’t feel scared about not making it to meetings.
We are looking for new writers, photographers, videographers, graphic designers, and more, so if any of those interest you be sure to stop by or email me at [email protected].
The Comenian supports a wide range of content. If you want to interview students around campus, you can. If you want to make video essays you can. If you want to make short comics, you can. Whether you want to write about news, politics, music, movies, sports, video games, food, history, or anything else, I guarantee you will have a place here.
Also, if you would like to be notified by email whenever we publish a new edition of the paper – either the online or print version – please send your address to [email protected]. We’ll add you to our email list!
That’s all from me folks! Thank you for reading our paper and be sure to check back in for future editions!
Your editor-in-chief,
AJ
