For any Moravian student, Fratelli is a cornerstone of their college experience. Located at 1230 N New Street, a block from North campus, this quaint pizzeria is my go-to spot for quick and easy Italian cuisine.
Many would consider me one of god’s most militant pizza haters. It’s genuinely one of the most overrated foods on the planet, and anyone who says pizza is their favorite food automatically gets a stink eye from me (seriously, it’s like saying your favorite movie is The Godfather).
As such, pizza places for are often a source of skepticism. Every time someone mentions getting pizza, my eyebrow raises. But when someone suggests Fratelli: well, I jump for joy.
As the world’s biggest pizza dis-liker, I can certifiably say that Fratelli is one of my favorite restaurants in Bethlehem.
First, the staff is so unbelievably nice it’s unreal. Every time I walk into the building, I feel like I am walking into a friend’s house. I quite literally cannot think of a single interaction I’ve had with the staff that didn’t make my day.
Adrian, in particular, is an absolute legend and should be protected at all costs. I’ve come to pick up large orders for club events numerous times, and every time he talks to us and seems so grateful for our business. Seriously, every time, he has profusely thanked us for all the business Moravian students bring, and it’s just heartwarming to see someone so thankful and humble.
Additionally, one time I was waiting for my food there, he gave me a piece of a delicious cinnamon dessert for no reason and it made my entire week. The entire staff deserves praise.
Beyond the staff, however, the food is shockingly good. Not to demean pizza places, but they typically are not able to rival regular Italian restaurants in terms of quality. Not true of Fratelli.
Their pizza is never too dry or too greasy, and they somehow have perfected the ideal ratio between cheese and tomato sauce.
While I am far from a pizza lover, I am a Fratelli pizza lover.
Their pasta is next level. penne with vodka sauce is my favorite thing in the world besides Moo Deng and Hamilton memes, so I put a lot of stock in an Italian place’s quality depending on that delectable dish. Thankfully, I can report that not only is their penne vodka great, but it’s some of the best I’ve had in the area.
A good penne vodka can heal the world and it seems that Fratelli has discovered the key to world peace with their vodka sauce.
Additionally, their normal spaghetti is also incredible. Typically, pizza places have relatively bland pasta, but just like the vodka sauce, the spaghetti is surprisingly great.
Fratelli is even more awesome for Moravian students because they offer a 10% discount if you show your Moravian ID to them, thanks to our Hound Discount program run by the United Student Government.
If you are looking to get food for a club event, or want to get some grub with your friends, I cannot recommend Fratelli enough as they are one of the best and most affordable restaurants in the Bethlehem area.
