On Sunday, Jan. 19, the Lehigh Valley experienced the biggest snowfall of the season, with areas being covered in four to eight inches of snow.
Bethlehem and Moravian were no exception with Northampton and Lehigh counties both receiving many inches of snowfall.
As a result of the weather and icy road conditions on Monday, the Moravian Facilities Management, Planning, and Construction Department suspended shuttle services until 12 noon.
Students took advantage of the wintery weather and a Monday with no classes thanks to Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The Comenian staff especially took advantage of the impromptu winter wonderland to enjoy one last day off before the semester truly kicked into gear.
Jonathan Dowling ‘28 found himself working at Home Depot and shared that many patrons came to buy sleds during his shift.
Ellie Umstead ‘28 and her friends built a snowman on John Makuvek Field.
Other students found themselves frustrated by the icy conditions of roads and parking lots after the storm, including Anna Hirsch ‘28.
“I’ve slipped and almost fallen a few times,” Hirsch said days after the storm.
Brianna Sterling ‘28 slipped and fell on her way to the B&G.
Lydia Devlin, after waking up from a nap, witnessed the campus community spending time outside and enjoying the weather.
“It made me really happy to see everyone so carefree,” Devlin said.
AJ Minnich ‘25 slept in his room all day and tragically slipped on the ice and spilled his dinner all over him (it was a drop of Buffalo sauce on his shirt). He has since recovered from the traumatizing not-so hot sauce incident.
Overall, many students were able to get outside and enjoy the snowy weather.
