What is your proudest accomplishment at Moravian?
My proudest accomplishment is being a part of the theatre company. During my freshman year, I decided to audition for a show called Bad Auditions by Bad Actors. I wasn’t even originally interested in auditioning, but I am glad I did. I ended up getting the lead role and meeting so many amazing people that I am happy to call my friends. Everyone in the company is my family, I wouldn’t trade them for the world.
Why did you choose to come to Moravian?
I first found out about Moravian after an alumni from my church took our youth group to a Vespers service. He took us on a mini tour of South Campus and I fell in love with the history of our university. Little Emma finally committed to the idea of going to Moravian when she was older. Years later, at every open house and accepted Students Day event I attended, the more I learned about Moravian, the more I fell in love with the school. Every person I met felt a genuine connection, and I truly felt that this was a community I wanted to be a part of. I am so proud to call myself a Greyhound. Shout out to Dr. Massey for setting me on this journey.
What are your hobbies and passions?
Whenever someone asks me about my hobbies, I suddenly forget every interest I have. I know it’s my major but I really enjoy making art whenever I can. I am also a big music person and I love discovering new music. I genuinely am a person who will listen to all kinds of music. I dislike songs, not genres.
What is your major? Why did you pick it?
When I was younger, my mom volunteered in the dementia unit of a local nursing home. My mom and her friend would create clay art projects with the residents and some days, I would go with them. Some of these residents were reserved, some of them wouldn’t even speak. But I would watch as these people would come together through the creation of art. I have always had a passion for art, but seeing art being created in this environment made me want to explore the world of healing through art. This is why I am a studio art major and a health humanities minor. I can go on and on forever about my love for art and why I am majoring in it, but the long and short of it is that it’s all because of my mom.
What’s a little-known fact about you?
I was really interested in going into Forensics when I was younger. I discovered the show Forensic Files and I became fascinated with crime scene analysis. Sometimes, I think back on this interest of mine, and I contemplate doing something like being a forensic sketch artist.
Favorite professor? Favorite class?
It really is hard to name a favorite professor of mine. I have very fond memories of every professor I have met at Moravian, and they have all taught me valuable life lessons. Right now, I am currently taking both Painting II and Drawing II with Natessa Amin. Natessa is such a kind and wonderful professor who always encourages me to follow my dreams
What is your favorite thing to eat on campus?
Anything and everything made by Jamie and CJ in Clewell Dining Hall. Something about the food in Clewell reminds me of a nice home-cooked meal. Clewell will always be my favorite place to eat.
Where do you go to study or do homework?
I am not a science student, but I love to study in the Biology lounge at Collier Hall of Science. It tends to be very vacant whenever I go there, so it’s a nice, quiet place to get work done. I always pay Suzzy Waffles a visit when I go there.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
To whoever is reading this, don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Go to that campus event, try out that club you’ve been looking at, and enroll in that class you’ve always thought about. You never know how those things will change your life.
