TikTok and other social media apps have seen the rise of a new trend: peeing on notable monuments on college campuses and high schools around the country.
Moravian has not been spared; some of the victims so far include the Moravian University map sign near the Bahnson Center, Mak Field, and the greyhound statue in front of Comenius Hall.
Whether there are single or multiple Moravian Pissers is unknown at this time. There is a TikTok account called @Moravian.pisser ,which has posted one video of a stream, gaining over 30 thousand views at the time of this writing.
One of the most significant debates circulating on campus, besides the identity of the person, is whether or not the pee filmed is ‘real’ or just water.
The suspects, or copycats, have left notes such as “The Moravian Pisser was here” in areas like the library whiteboards. There is no confirmation of whether the person writing these notes truly bears the identity of the people filming the videos.
On a library whiteboard in Reeves, a group of unidentified students left notes on who they believe the suspects could be. According to the notes, the Moravian Pisser mostly strikes at night between 7:30 pm and 5:00 am and posts on TikTok and sometimes on YikYak.
According to this notes sheet, there are three suspects, two of whom “peed” on the greyhound statues.
At least one Moravian student finds the trend an interesting case.
“I think its pretty cool: having a campus vigilante,” Christopher Whalen ‘29 said.
@Moravianpisser, another TikTok account is considered the most likely to be using his own bodily functions rather than a water bottle. @MoravianUnvpisser, another TikTok account, posted himself in the middle of Mak Field.
These accounts have only posted one video each, but there is a repeat offender under the @Moravianpisser4, who has posted 16 different videos of himself apparently urinating on campus signs, chairs, and other landmarks.
In one of his videos, @Moravianpisser4 wears black sneakers and pants, but shows nothing that would otherwise reveal his identity. He posts much more often than his competitors, with his most recent video coming out the day I wrote this, Sept. 20. He also took a trip to Lehigh University, where he filmed himself peeing on one of their buildings on his TikTok account.
President Bryon Grigsby believes that there are enough cameras on campus that if someone were truly urinating around, they would be caught by Campus Police in a timely manner.
According to Chief of Police Harrison Dillard, this matter is still an active investigation, so they are unable to provide a comment at this time.
