Rant of the Week: Why Pack Up Early?
In high school, I understood when people packed up their things 10 to 15 minutes before class ended.
But most college students, on the other hand, are responsible for paying for tuition. So I cannot fathom why everyone insists on packing up their things while the professor is still teaching!
You are paying to be in the class, so why waste money by not listening to every part of the lecture?
I always sit in the front row, and I cannot hear what my professors are saying as people crumble their papers into their backpacks and zip them up.
I have noticed that a professor’s last words at the end of class are usually the things that appear on an exam. It is just amazing to me. If you’re there to hear the professor lecture, why would you cut that professor short, at the expense of your grade?
While I am just as happy as the next person to have a 7:30 a.m. class cancelled every once in a while, I don’t understand why people take the extra five minutes at the end of class as personal time.
You should be old enough to use your time wisely and go to the bathroom or run for coffee between classes. Not only is it distracting, it is also very disrespectful.
I don’t know about you, but I’m taking in every last word that my professor has to say and getting my money’s — and education’s — worth.
