What’s that? A second print edition this semester?
That’s right! We are back with another print edition this semester to celebrate the holiday season!
This is the first time we’ve had multiple print issues in a single semester in a very long time. Last year we increased it to two per academic year, so I am very happy and proud we’ve gotten to the point where we are able to do even more physical editions.
We thought there was no better way to end the semester than with a bang. We’ve fought tooth and nail to get this edition out now, so we really hope you enjoy reading it as much as we did making it.
I would like to thank all our staff for the incredible work on this edition, especially Liz Kameen for taking charge of the layout, and Lola Offenback for uploading the articles for our online version. I’ve said it ad nauseam at this point but I am immensely grateful for and proud of our staff for everything they do and the continual and relentless work and dedication they show for The Comenian.
I do have some bittersweet news, however. This will be Sabrina Moody’s last edition where she writes for us, as she graduates at the end of this semester. She has been an incredible addition to this paper for the last two years and I’m sad to see her go. But I am also excited to see where her path takes her. Sabrina, thank you for everything you’ve done for The Comenian in spite of all the hardship you have faced.
While I think we have been on a roll lately, we have had one very noticeable absence from The Comenian for the last few years. That being, a proper sports section. It almost feels like sacrilege to me that we don’t have sports, so if you are at all interested in writing about Moravian athletics, please reach out to comenian@ moravian.edu. We’ve been able to cover all of our other bases well so sports are like our final frontier.
This has been a long and trying semester, so I for one am glad that winter break is right around the corner and we can enjoy the fruits of holiday cheer. Our staff especially need this break desperately.
The semester is not over yet, though. So good luck everyone with the rest of your semester and happy holidays!
Before I sign off: if you’re interested in joining The Comenian please join us at our meetings, which take place every Wednesday at 5 p.m. in Zinzendorf Hall, room 100. If you cannot make it to meetings, that is fine as well! We fully allow asynchronous participation, so don’t feel scared about not making it to meetings.
We are looking for new writers, photographers, videographers, graphic designers, and more, so if any of those interest you be sure to stop by or email me at [email protected].
The Comenian supports a wide range of content. If you want to interview students around campus, you can. If you want to make video essays you can. If you want to make short comics, you can. Whether you want to write about news, politics, music, movies, sports, video games, food, history, or anything else, I guarantee you will have a place here.
Also, if you would like to be notified by email whenever we publish a new edition of the paper – either the online or print version – please send your address to [email protected]. We’ll add you to our email list!
Thank you for reading our final refresh of the semester. We will be back again in January, so until then, have a great winter break!
Your editor-in-chief, AJ
