The Lehigh Valley gets in the Halloween Spirit

 

The smell of crisp leaves and apple cider are surrounding us, which means Halloween is right around the corner. Halloween is a great time to bond with family and friends by painting pumpkins, touring haunted houses, and riding on hayrides. The Lehigh Valley is holding a multitude of events for Halloween, all tailored to different ages and interests.

Halloween Parades in Bethlehem and Allentown:

Bethlehem: Oct. 30 at 2p.m. Located on Main and Broad St., Bethlehem.

Allentown: Oct. 16 at 2p.m. Located at Chew Street and Hamilton Blvd., Allentown.

Easton: Oct. 30 (Times and additional details to be provided) Located between Easton, Pennsylvania and Phillipsburg, New Jersey.

Trick Treat in Bethlehem: Oct. 28 from 6p.m.-8p.m.

Trick or Treat in Easton: Oct. 31 from 6p.m.-8p.m.

Trick or Treat in Allentown: Oct. 28 from 6p.m.-8p.m.

Events in Bethlehem, Easton, and Allentown:

Oktoberfest: Oct. 7-9

101 Founders Way, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Friday: 5-10p.m. Saturday: Noon-10p.m. Sundays: Noon-8p.m.

Oktoberfest is a German festival that features German music and food.

Harvest Festival: Oct. 8

Biergarten at the Sun Inn Courtyard located on 556 Main St. in Bethlehem.

Occurring from 11a.m.-8p.m.

The Harvest Festival will have live music, soup, beer and wine tasting (alcohol tasting for those over 21; tickets must be purchased in advanced for all tasting) crafts, and food. For kids there will be pumpkin painting and a petting zoo.

Historic Bethlehem’s Ghost Tours: Sept. 30- Oct. 30 (Weekends)

Located at The Moravian Book shop on 428 Main St., Bethlehem.

Occurring at various evening times

Tickets purchased in advance ($13.00 for adults, $10.00 for children under 13.)

A guide leads the ghost tours that take you through Historic Bethlehem.

Haunted Hugh Moore Park: Oct. 21, 22, 89, and 29

2750 Hugh Moore Park Rd., Easton.

Occurring from 6p.m.-9p.m.

Buy tickets in advance at $15.00 per person.

Take a canal boat ride that includes ghost stories, a ghost walk, food, and pumpkin decorating.

Halloween Haunt Dorney Park

3830 Dorney Park Rd., Allentown

Dorney’s Halloween Haunt features different rides, mazes, and shows. This event can be considered fairly scary, so it’s not for the faint-hearted.

Jack-O-Lantern Lane: Sept. 24-Nov. 6

3145 Hamilton Boulevard Bypass in Allentown (The Da Vinci Science Center).

50 Artisan–crafted Jack-O-Lanterns will be displayed, along with Hack-O-Lantern Live Science Shows on various Saturday and Sundays.

Trick or Treat at the Sands Outlet: Oct. 22

901 Daly Ave, Bethlehem

Occurring from 11a.m.-Noon

The stores at the Sands will be giving out candy, and there will be a costume contest for various age groups (infant-4, 5-6, 7-12.) Winners will receive a prize-pack that includes tickets to show Octonauts Live!

BooFest: Oct. 22

555 Union Blvd., Bethlehem.

Occurring from 11a.m.-4p.m.

This is an event for the community and children with special needs. There will be food, entertainment, and children can trick-or-treat at the vendor’s booths.

The Great Pumpkin Fest: Oct. 29

Dorney Park, 400 Dorney Park Rd., Allentown.

Occurring from 11a.m.-5p.m

Buy tickets in advance, prices vary.

Dorney Park is hosting Halloween activities for families and kids that will include a petting zoo, pumpkin painting, and mask decorating.

Trick or Treat at the Palmer Park Mall: Oct. 30

137 Palmer Park Mall, Easton.

Begins at 3p.m.

Stores participating in the Palmer Mall trick or treat event will have orange and black balloons on the doorways.
