On March 13, 2024, the Center for Career and Civic Engagement will be partnering with DeSales University to host a job/internship fair. The fair will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in Johnston Hall.

This year the Center expects around five dozen employers to attend. The full list of employers appears on Handshake.

Employers include non-profits, local businesses, and bigger companies. ArtsQuest, Laurel Life, and LifePath account for some of the nonprofits that will be at the fair. Local businesses, such as Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites and the Gardens at Easton for Nursing and Rehabilitation, will join them. Larger companies attending include St. Luke’s, Lehigh Valley Health Network, and Guardian Life Insurance Company.

The fair is a good opportunity for students to make contact with employers and look into possible job or internship opportunities. Anyone who is interested can attend; the Center highly recommends that upperclassmen do.

“It’s not only a great opportunity [for them] to … explore job opportunities with employers but also a great opportunity to network,” said Janelle Pyar, assistant director of the Center for Career and Civic Engagement.

Moravian has also hired professional photographers to take headshots for students, free of charge. There will be a sensory/quiet area for students if they happen to get overwhelmed or need some space to sit during the event.

“I know that it can be intimidating, sometimes, for students to come up and talk to employers, but it’s a very open and friendly event,” said Pyar. “Our whole staff will be on-site to help students navigate the fair.”

Students who attended last year’s fair commended the Center for making the event a safe and welcoming space for all students.

“I was nervous to attend last year, but my friends convinced me to go,” said Matt Cruz, ’25, a mathematics major. “The staff were all very nice and helped us find employers in our fields of study. Despite my anxiety around going, they made it a smooth experience.” Cruz didn’t land an internship at the fair but still recommends that students go to learn what’s available.

Sarah Ann, an undeclared freshman, is taking his advice. “I plan on going [to the fair] this year. Hopefully, it’ll give me a better idea of what I want to do after college!”

Note that all students will be required to bring resumes to give out to potential employers and to dress in business casual attire, which is generally considered to be a button-down shirt, slacks (not jeans), and dress shoes.
