Wiz Kidz is a very high contender for my favorite restaurant in the Lehigh Valley.
Before eating there, I was never huge on eating cheesesteaks, but after tasting the absolute masterpiece that is a Wiz Kidz cheesesteak, I can’t get enough of them.
I have never had a better cheesesteak before or since.
Now, a lot of people think that the Wiz sauce on cheesesteaks is just Cheese Whiz, but that’s simply not true. It’s a house-made cheese blend. The Wiz sauce is simply out of this world. I don’t know what they put in it, but I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that they put nicotine in it because of how addictive it is.
The steak is always perfectly cooked, and they thankfully mix the cheese in with the steak instead of just putting the cheese on the roll and placing the steak on top.
There is also a ton of variety in customizing your cheesesteak. There are over 16 different things you can add to your steak, like bacon, provolone, mushrooms, and more. They also have different kinds of steaks, such as their pop culture-themed steaks based on The Sopranos, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Terminator. Their chicken steaks are also great, but my heart will always lie with their red meat.
Their sides are also very good. I absolutely love their French fries. They are just crispy enough not to feel floppy and soggy while also not being weird and crunchy like a burnt McDonald’s fry. They are made even better with either cheese or garlic parm toppings.
I’m a French fry fanatic who loves both toppings, so I legitimately can’t choose a favorite because they both are so good. The cheese fries are some of the best I’ve ever had, only rivaled in the Lehigh Valley by the Alice Fries from Diner 248.
The theming of both the Bethlehem and Madison Farms locations is awesome. It feels like you are stepping into the personification of the late 80s and early 90s with all the vibrant colors, pop culture decorations, and arcade machines.
It feels like this place was made for dorks like me who love video games, comics, and more. In the Bethlehem location, there’s even a LEGO wall that you can play with.
I also cannot emphasize enough just how convenient this place is. While it’s not fast food, I’m always in and out within five to ten minutes with what can only be described as a glorious cheesy gift from the heavens.
Speaking of gifts from the heavens, the staff in both the Bethlehem and Madison Farms locations are just awesome. They are always so kind and nice, even when I frantically walk in 10 minutes before closing.
If you ever feel a hankering for cheesesteaks, there is no better spot in the Lehigh Valley you will find than Wiz Kidz.
