Gabriel “Brie” Jacobs graduated from Moravian University in 2024. She majored in environmental science and minored in chemistry. She currently lives in Bucks County, Pa., and works as an industrial hygienist at Criterion Labs in Bensalem Township.
I was a transfer student to Moravian University; my first semester was the Fall 2023 semester. One of the classes I took during that fall was with professors Dr. Denton-Borhaug and Dr. Mayer.
This class fell into the liberal arts aspect of my degree. As an environmental science major, I didn’t take many humanities courses.
Through this class, I had robust discussions with Denton-Borhaug and Mayer throughout the semester on personal subjects, the institution of Moravian University, universities in general, and the United States as a nation. I was moved by the dedication that both Denton-Borhaug and Mayer had to not only draw attention to the moral dilemmas we face in our daily lives, or the moral responsibility a nation has, but also to show my classmates and me those who have accomplished, thoughtful lives that have profoundly affected the way we all live today.
I have since had many conversations outside of class with both Mayer and Denton-Borhaug, as I greatly value them as compassionate and thoughtful individuals.
Their insights about the world, appreciation for debate and discussion, and kind, gentle natures are something I will always associate with my time at Moravian University. I am so grateful to have met them both.
