Located in the corner of Broad and Center streets in the heart of historic downtown Bethlehem is Yung Esau’s Vintage Shop. As you walk in, you are greeted with a nook furnished with a vintage leather couch, trinkets, and a VCR player, resembling an iconic ’80s basement. Soul, Funk, and New Wave music echoes throughout the shop, transporting you to another time.
Prices for articles of clothing range from $10 to $350, spanning from staple pieces like graphic tees to high-fashion leather jackets. The store carries an array of vintage gems from Wrangler denim to Moschino leather jackets. Additionally, they offer $10 basket sales and carry a variety of graphic tees, aligning with that vintage Lehigh Valley feel.
Aaron Stutz, the shop’s founder, has curated a collection of worn but incredibly well-maintained vintage. As I browsed through the racks, feeling the texture of the leather jackets, I was surprised to find that they were in almost perfect condition. The leather didn’t shed, and as I glanced at the rest of the clothing, I rarely saw any signs of wear.
I’d say the shop’s target market is a Gen-Z demographic, which is into thrifting and finding timeless pieces of clothing. I feel like Millennials would also shop here because of the curation, matching the times (’80s – 2000s) they grew up in.
Esau’s Vintage is a perfect place for vintage collectors who want that kick of nostalgia and for the modern thrift shopper who’s looking for distinct styles. Regardless of the theme of the store, I think there is something for everyone there, whether you’re a vintage-loving college student or a tourist exploring the historic district.
