What is your club about?
Tabletop holds an emphasis on community and entertainment. Our goal at Moravian is to provide an hour or few to unwind and destress from the hustle and bustle of college life through the use of board games and role-playing games!
When was your club established?
Tabletop Club was established in the Fall of 2021.
Who are your current leaders (advisors, president, vice president, etc.)?
Our President is Julianna Thompson, the Vice President is Emily Miller, the Treasurer is Emily Kave, and the Secretary is Johnny Baron.
When does your club meet?
Oftentimes, we meet at the end of the week, on Friday evenings, as they allow a break after a long and tedious week and provide leeway to host RPG games or longer activities.
What is the most popular activity that the campus knows you for?
Our club hosts a yearly trip to the Renaissance Faire! It’s one of the most anticipated events of the year and is always lots of fun!
What are the biggest challenges that your club faces?
Time constraints are one of our main challenges. Lots of fun games, such as DND, require a longer timeframe to play and can be difficult to fit into the usual meeting time!
If you could pair up with another club for an event or project, who would it be?
We’d love to do a large DND collaboration with multiple clubs such as Art Club, Zinzendorf Literary Society, and History Club! These collaborations would have great potential for getting to experience the joys of world-building, character creation, and bringing your ideas to life!
What is the latest project that your club is excited about?
We are currently looking into making merchandise for our club, such as tote bags and T-shirts. It is still very much in the works, but we’re very excited to see where it goes and to create cool things for our club and members!
If you had an unlimited budget, what dream project would your club put it towards?
We’d love to host more trips for the club! Being able to bring club members to local game stores, Renaissance Faire (With the added bonus of free tickets for everyone!), RPG-inspired movie nights, and all of the awesome tabletop-inspired stores would help spread the fun of tabletop games!
What is the best tabletop game for beginners looking to get into the genre, and why?
There are a variety of types of games so it is hard to pick one. Clue is a classic for mystery games where you have to solve clues for a certain answer. Dungeons and Dragons is a well-known and straightforward method to understand RPGs. And the Grizzled is a small, middle-challenging card game about managing resources and abilities to overcome danger!
