What is your club about?

The Humanities Club will strive to provide a space for all students interested in the Humanities to connect on Moravian University’s campus. Our club is dedicated to providing information and resources about all Humanities majors, as well as professional development opportunities that could help prepare students for life after college. The Humanities Club will also provide a space for students to discuss their interests and passions for different social justice-related issues, which all students can learn from each other about.

When was your club established?

2023

Who are your current leaders (advisors, president, vice president, etc.)?

Advisor: Claudia Mesa

President: Fatimah Bouri

Vice-President: Emma Ferraro

Treasurer: Nathan Pynchon

Secretary: Brooke Gormley

Social Media Chair: Liz Kameen

Programming Event Chair: Brianna Whalen

When does your club meet?

Friday’s at 3:15 pm in the HUB Reinhard Room

What is the most popular activity that the campus knows you for?

We are a new club, so we have not hosted any events on campus yet. We look forward to hosting some engaging, intellectual, and collaborative events in the future!

What are the biggest challenges that your club faces?

First of all, we are a very new club, so we want to work hard to get our name out there and build our engagement! Also, people don’t know much about what the Humanities actually are, so we would like to educate more people on campus about them. Lastly, Moravian’s focus is not on the Humanities, so we would like to provide more opportunities on campus for students to develop their careers and journeys in the humanities.

If you could pair up with another club for an event or project, who would it be?

Right now, we have many connections and interests in working with the Gender Equity Club. We would love to plan an event with them, along with any of the language clubs!

What is the latest project that your club is excited about?

It has been a relief just to get our new club approved! We are excited about continuing to develop our club and hopefully plan a few events before the end of the semester.

If you had an unlimited budget, what dream project would your club put it towards?

More resources for Humanities students! Workshops, internship opportunities, and educational excursions are all a part of our goal to make Moravian University a better place for the humanities.

How does your club intend to positively impact the campus or community?

We want to strive to create a comfortable and safe environment for humanities students at Moravian! Additionally, we want to provide a space for non-humanities majors to discuss any passions or interests they have in the humanities. Our goal is to bring together any and all Moravian students based on our shared interests in the humanities.

Is there anything else you would like to add to the article?

We are so excited to get this club going and hopefully create an inclusive space for Humanities majors to come together and bolster one another’s career paths.
