Dear Readers,

Welcome back to the 2/11 edition of The Comenian!

Love is in the air, and as Valentine’s Day approaches, the wallets of those in relationships tremble. Valentine’s Day is a controversial topic among many people, but whether you consider it to be a romantic day to spend with your partner or a greedy holiday made to guilt lovers into spending copious amounts of money on each other, one thing is for certain: you can never go wrong with snagging up some clearance chocolate on the Feb. 15!

But before we get into the news, I’d like to direct your attention to our newly-added staff profiles page. Learn more about your favorite Comenian reporters, along with all the content they’ve published.

Curious about the history behind Valentine’s Day and how it has changed over time? Check out Bard Bardelli’s report on the history of the holiday, from ancient Roman traditions to modern times.

Those looking for some tasty treats to enjoy this holiday weekend will want to check out reporter Annie McCarthy’s list of five Valentine’s Day recipes, and while you’re at it, watch one (or two, or three, or all twenty-five) of these romantic movies recommended by Logan Palau.

Copy editor AJ Minnich shares the story of his favorite fictional relationship featuring Batman and Catwoman. The Bat and the Cat – not to be confused with Dr. Seuss’ “Cat in the Hat.” I know – bad joke.

And for a final touch of the Valentine’s Day flair, check out Anna Litofsky’s latest “Behind the Mask” comic.

Moravian’s United Student Government shares news, updates, and other information in The Comenian’s newest feature, “News From USG.”

Learn about Moravian’s history with the native Lenape – also known as Delaware – Tribe from a member of the Delaware Tribe itself, in my coverage of Jack Johnson’s speech “Reconciling History: Moravian History with the Lenape.”

Also, meet Dr. Eric Sanders, a professor of speech-language pathology at Moravian, in our “Professor Spotlight” feature.

Reporter Dominic Trabosci reviews Amber Mark’s debut album, “Three Dimensions Deep,” in what he calls “a rich, gorgeous, groovy, and glittery feminist-fueled journey.”

Copy editor AJ Minnich reviews Marvel’s “Hawkeye” TV show. Did this show about Marvel’s archer hit its mark? Read AJ’s review to find out!

Who does President Grigsby think will win Superbowl LVI? Check out this collection of video interviews, featuring Moravian’s president and students sharing their predictions for the big game

And there you have it! Another edition of The Comenian is in the books. And with very exciting articles in the horizon, I’m looking forward to seeing what else the wonderful reporters at The Comenian will produce! I hope you are too!

If you’d like to get involved with The Comenian, we are always looking for new members to join our staff. This includes writers, editors, photographers, videographers, and graphic designers. No prior experience is necessary. Please email Nicholas Wan ([email protected]) for more information.

Your editor-in-chief,
