Dear Readers,

Welcome to the 3/18 edition of The Comenian!

It sure feels like spring has finally come, hasn’t it? For the first time in months, I spent a full day outside, enjoying the weather and some fresh air for once. This winter seemed especially brutal; it felt like it was constantly snowing, constantly cold, and overall quite miserable. Sometimes it felt like winter would never end, but it seems we can finally put all that behind us and look forward to warm spring days.

That also means we’re nearing the end of another semester at Moravian. There are only three more editions of The Comenian to come following this one; it went way too fast.

Also, for those attending Accepted Student’s Day on Saturday, Mar. 19, come visit The Comenian in the HUB lobby between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. We’d love to see you there!

For this edition of the paper, we have the following for your reading pleasure:

Learn about the history of Ireland through its clothing. Reporter Sabrina Moody shares an enriching and intriguing journey through time in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day!

Managing editor Anna Litofsky previews Moravian’s Writer’s Conference and some of the noteworthy events taking place today, Mar. 18, and Mar. 19. And if any of these events interest you, it’s not too late to sign up for some of the programs.

As part of The Comenian’s efforts to spotlight the work done by Moravian’s Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, reporter Bard Bardelli reports on part two of Moravian’s critical race theory discussion

Reporter Fatimah Bouri covers Moravian’s Friday Forum regarding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in an insightful article about the causes of and reasons for this tragic war.

Additionally, Fatimah highlights another significant topic in her article on Disney’s involvement in the anti-LQBTQ+ legislation, the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

Interested in pursuing a law degree? Learn more about Moravian’s 3+3 Law program and how it can help you get into law school from guest reporter Jordynn Gemberling.

Learn more about USG’s latest initiative regarding accessibility of hygiene products in bathrooms throughout campus.

For our club spotlight, Sam Houser and Dominic Trabosci feature the Kubb Club.

Copy editor AJ Minnich shares two reviews. One is of the highly anticipated movie, “The Batman.” Is this the definitive story of DC’s Caped Crusader? Read and find out!

And jump (or glide) into the post-apocalyptic world of robot dinosaurs in AJ’s review of the video game “Horizon Forbidden West.” Does this sequel surpass its 2017 original release? Check our AJ’s review and see for yourself.

Reporter John Watson shares his predictions for the Oscars Academy Awards. Be sure to leave your own thoughts in the comments on that article, as well.

And finally, we have some incredible news; Anna Litofsky’s “Behind the Mask” won 2nd place in the Keystone Media Awards for cartoons and graphic illustrations by the Pennsylvania Newsmedia Association! The Comenian is so proud of Anna’s accomplishment! Send Anna your congratulations and read her latest “Behind the Mask” comic right here.

As always, we thank you for your continued support of our paper, and hope to see you again for our next edition on April 1!

Your editor-in-chief,

Nick
